Mercatorfonds announces the forthcoming publication Carla Arocha and Stéphane Schraenen: Monograph as Project, a 664-page volume edited and authored by curator and art historian Barbara Vanderlinden, with book design by Irma Boom.

Expanding the notion of the artist monograph, this richly illustrated study examines both the individual and collaborative practices of Arocha and Schraenen from the 1990s to today. Through more than 700 images and 66 case studies, it explores their dialogue between abstraction and conceptual systems, individuality and partnership, perception and spatial disruption.

Essays by Mónica Amor, Philippe Pirotte, Marc Donnadieu, and Barbara Vanderlinden situate their work within broader artistic, philosophical, and material frameworks, while interviews by Helen Molesworth and Hans Ulrich Obrist extend the conversation.

Irma Boom’s distinctive design functions as a critical element in itself—her dynamic layouts and layered typography turn the book into both a scholarly reference and a spatial, tactile experience.
