The Needs of the Soul at Dorotheum, Brussels

Wolstraat, 13, 1000 Brussels

Curated by Kathleen Weyts

Exhibition: 9 June – 13 September 2026

“To be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul…”

— Simone Weil

Inspired by the writings of philosopher Simone Weil (1909–1943), The Needs of the Soul brings together artists from different generations and backgrounds to explore the “vital needs of the soul.” The exhibition invites reflection on our place within a changing world. Drawing on Weil’s conviction that philosophy constitutes a form of practice, it encourages attention, responsibility, and engagement with the present.
